Occupational Therapist (Band 6 Associate/Locum/Self-Employed)

Location: Hampshire (Farnborough, Basingstoke, Winchester, Southampton)

Hours: Part-time to full-time, minimum 3 days per week (18 hours minimum). Term-time to full-time contract, with a minimum of 38 weeks per year.

Pay: Competitive hourly rate akin to current NHS salary bandings/locum rates. Potential for a salaried position in the future. Travel time paid for and mileage contributed towards.

About the Role:
A dedicated and passionate Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist is sought to join a dynamic and expanding practice. This long-term role offers the chance to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young adults, aged 2 to 25, with a variety of needs including autism, sensory issues, learning disabilities, and other co-occurring conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
– Conduct comprehensive OT assessments in-house or within the community.
– Develop detailed treatment plans and therapy goals, ensuring regular progress evaluations.
– Provide OT support and guidance during therapy sessions.
– Maintain high-quality clinical notes and electronic records in line with RCoT and HCPC standards.
– Collaborate with parents, carers, schools, and other agencies to ensure holistic care.
– Participate in EHCP assessments and tribunal procedures as required.
– Facilitate access to assistive devices for young persons and their families.
– Engage in regular clinical supervision and attend training sessions to maintain high clinical standards.
– Mentor OT students.

Qualifications and Skills:
– BSc Degree in Occupational Therapy with a specialism in paediatrics, learning disabilities, CAMHS experience, or trauma and attachment.
– Sensory integration training is advantageous but not essential.
– HCPC accreditation and RCoT membership.
– Valid and current DBS.
– Minimum of 2-4 years of paediatric experience in specialist or mainstream school settings.
– Proficiency in standardised assessment and treatment of children with GMS/FMS and self-regulation difficulties.
– Driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
– Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Word.
– Knowledge of GDPR legislation.
– Effective communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and within a team.
